  • There are 68 Grama Niladhari Divisions and named them according to their relevant numbers .

How to get the business registrations?

  • The entrepreneur (owner) of the business should compulsory come with the relevant documents including the National Identity Card.

What are the requisite documents you have to bring in order to redeem the pawning articles and deposited money of the dead person?

  • Death certificate of the deceased 
  • Documents to prove the applicant’s relationship with the dead (Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates)
  • Affidavit statements to prove that there is no objection to offer the applicant money or goods to the afflicant (if there are other members in the family of the deceased)

  • New applications for Samurdhi Allowance won’t be accepted for now. But the appeals are accepted to be considered in the future.

What are the eligibility requirements to get the Elders Allowance?

  • Being more than 70 years of age on the date of application
  • Rs. 3000 or less family income for month
  • Only one person of the family (either husband or wife) can apply for this program.

How to obtain an original copy of Birth, Marriage and Death certificates?

You can obtain Birth, Marriage and Death certificates from the Divisional Secretariat

  • Rs.100.00 is charged if you know the number and the Date of the relevant certificate.
  • If you don’t know the number and the Date of the relevant certificate it will be charged Rs.200.00 to get the certificate.
  • Above mentioned certificates can be issued by the Seethawaka divisional Secretariat if only the occurrence of the event was within the Colombo District.

How to register a birth?

  • A normal birth can be registered within 03 months of the occurrence of the birth by the Birth registrar of the relevant Division.
  • Contact the Additional District Registrar and get relevant information to register a birth if it has passed 03 month period of the occurrence of the birth.

How to amend the birth Certificate?

  • Contact the Additional District registrar with relevant documents.

Pension Section

How to change the inheritance e of the Pension to the widower?

  • Firstly, take the death certificate of the pensioner in order to stop paying the pension.
  • Make necessary arrangements in order to withdraw the excess money from the bank.
  • Then the widower should bring below mentioned documents.
    • The original copy of the death certificate of the pensioner.
    • The original copy of the birth certificate of the widow or widower.
    • The original copy of the marriage certificate.
    • A copy of the widow’s or widower’s bank passbook.
    • A copy of the widow’s or widower’s National Identity Card.
    • Either a copy of the widow and orphans Pension Card or Its number.
    • A color picture of the passport size endorsed by the GramaNiladhari.
    • Photo copies of all aforesaid documents endorsed by the GramaNiladhari.
  • Finally, a relevant officer will check the accuracy of above documents In order to make necessary arrangements to issue the widow and orphans Pension.

Reasons for not paying the Pension.

  • If the Life certificate for the relevant year of the pensioner is not handed over the pension can be cut down.
  • So the pensioner should get the Life certificate and get the endorsement of the GramaNiladhari. 
  • Once the Life certificate is handed over to the relevant officer, the pension can be updated.

Why won’t the pension be paid to the inheritors after the death of the widow or widower?

  • According to the Act of widow and orphans Pension, there won’t be legal provisions to pay beneficiaries to the inheritors of the owner of the widow and orphans Pension after their death.
